Charitable Acts Throughout Allegheny, Butler and Beaver Counties
Since we were founded by Brother Gouverneur P. Hance in 1900, charitable contributions have been a critical cornerstone in our mission to provide comprehensive, compassionate care – regardless of an individual’s ability to pay. Building on our heritage, St. Barnabas Health System continues to reach out to those in need across the greater Pittsburgh surrounding area. Learn more about how we live out our mission through individual and institutional services, which support the health, education, and social needs of others while enabling our residents, patients, and their loved ones to get involved and give back in gratitude for their outstanding care.
Our Giving Options
As a 501(c)3 organization and the fundraising arm of St. Barnabas Health System, St. Barnabas Charities is proud to offer several giving options, including the following and more:
St. Barnabas Free Care Fund
We’ve provided over $7 million per year in free services to patients and residents in need who cannot afford their care at St. Barnabas Health System. This is only made possible through the generosity of our community through fundraising events and establishments such as:
- The Kean Theatre
- Tusca Fuel Center
- Furniture at the Firehouse
- The General Store
- Rudolph Auto Repair
Tax-deductible contributions can be made at any time, and gifts of $100 or more are recognized in Faith & Work, St. Barnabas Charities’ quarterly publication.
Honor and Memorial Gifts
To honor a living individual or memorialize a deceased loved one, we give donors the option to select “In Memory of” or “In Honor of” when completing our online or mail-in giving form. Donors simply have to include the name of the person they wish to honor or remember.
From automobiles and pianos to works of art and other collectibles, items of value may be donated to St. Barnabas Charities.
When employees make gifts to qualifying charities, employers can double the impact of that gift by generously matching the employee’s donation. Ask our team for a corporate matching gift form.
Combined Federal Campaign
This annual campaign targets federal government, postal, and military donors and runs from September 1 to December 15. Proceeds benefit eligible non-profits that provide health and human services throughout the world. When contributing, use our code (68441) at www.3riverscfc.org.
To make a legacy contribution to St. Barnabas Charities through an estate, our planned giving options include the following:
- Charitable gift annuities
- Gifts of insurance
- IRA gifts
Each gift offers a tax benefit, with some even providing the donor with a protected stream of income.
Special People Fund
This option is exclusive to St. Barnabas Health System employees, who dedicate a portion of their earnings to support free care and renovations for our patients.

Just as the love of Christ urged Brother Gouverneur P. Hance to devote himself to the service of the poor, it impels us to continue service to those in need and to take appropriate actions to assure the continuing viability of our mission through a strong commitment to our programs and associated services.
