Job Title:Food Service Assistant – Residential
Dining Room Manager
Server will transmit menu items verbally to residents; take their orders; enter order into Jonas on computer, take prepared food to resident ensuring quality and correctness of order. Will supply beverage service to resident; will ensure resident satisfaction and leave complete check with resident to sign. Will also serve various catered functions to include function set-up as requested.
Serve residents; efficient, courteous attitude toward fellow workers and customers; completion of assigned sidework as required by Hostess and Dining Room Manager.
Will stand and walk most of the working day; will carry up to 4 dinners on tray with one hand and will be able to balance this while serving. Handles china, glassware, silverware; ability to lift 25 lbs.
Must be able and willing to work with senior citizens; must be able to handle complaints; ability to remain courteous, helpful and calm under pressure; must be reliable and work as scheduled with very limited call-offs!
Uniform will be supplied and consists of black shirt, black apron and name tag. Low heeled, black, nonskid shoes, black dress pants and men’s tie required by servers.
Ability to speak, read and write fluent English; ability to understand basic written and oral instructions; some computer knowledge; must enjoy working with the public and have a friendly attitude.
Previous server experience helpful but worker will be productive within 4 days of on-the-job training.
Will learn menu items, basic service skills, resident’s names and the Jonas System. If 18 years or older, basic bartender skills.
Will work main dining room, Leisure Lounge, Fox Place Pub as well as catered functions, which will include set-up service and break-down at all St. Barnabas venues
May move to Hostess position if desired. When turning 18 years of age, will train in basic bartending skills and will be required to take RAMP Training to serve alcohol.
Additional Food & Beverage duties as our department develops and grows to be determined by your supervisor.
