About Our Founder’s Day Event in Greater Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Give back to the community while enjoying an elegant night out at our Founder’s Day event. With a night full of cocktails, a silent auction, dinner, and more, you can help us assist residents in need by donating to St. Barnabas’ Free Care Fund. Support our families in the Greater Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area by attending Founder’s Day.

What Is Founder’s Day?

Founder’s Day is an annual fundraising event where we will present The Hance Award to one outstanding recipient. Named after our founder, Gouverneur Hance, many well-known national figures from iconic leaders to former presidents to entertainers and more are eligible to win this award.

Held at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry, Pennsylvania, or the Omni William Penn Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, we always ensure we have an interactive emcee who will keep the party going for all 400+ guests. The Founder’s Day celebration will include the following:

  • Cocktail reception
  • Silent auction
  • Multi-course dinner
  • Speech by The Hance Award recipient

St. Barnabas seeks The Hance Award candidates with compassionate and enlightened leadership, aspects which our founder found most important when looking for ways to care for Greater Pittsburgh’s impoverished families. Since first awarding Mister Fred Rogers in 1986, we have dedicated ourselves to assisting residents with obtaining the support they need through our Founder’s Day celebration.

Supporting the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund

St. Barnabas enacted the Free Care Fund to ensure our nursing home is accessible to residents who otherwise cannot afford living assistance. Our Founder’s Day celebration is designed to raise money for our Free Care Fund, a program that assists residents at our St. Barnabas Nursing Home locations, including our The Arbors of Gibsonia, Valencia, and Beaver Meadows communities.

We continue to advocate for families who rely on our services, fundraising over $7 million annually towards free, long-term care. Since the creation of our program in 1967, we have raised over $135 million to cover the costs of living assistance for those that need it most. Our Founder’s Day is just one of many fundraising events that help to raise money for the Free Care Fund.
