PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS®

Spread Christmas Cheer

Most people think of the holiday season as a time of joy and gathering, but for some residents at nursing homes and long-term care communities, it can be lonely without family or friends nearby. St. Barnabas is dedicated to supporting aging adults in the Greater Pittsburgh area in a variety of ways, including living assistance and independent living communities, healthcare services, and community outreach events like PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS®

PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® was founded in 1984 by William V. Day, president and CEO of St. Barnabas, to help improve the moods of patients in St. Barnabas communities during the holiday season. St. Barnabas is passionate about serving aging adults with Christian caring and healing, and this program is one way we demonstrate our commitment to our mission.

The goals of PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® are to:

  • Help long-term care patients cope with the loneliness they may feel during the holidays by providing them with a gift and visitor.
  • Provide members of the public with volunteer opportunities and reasons to interact with patients at their local nursing homes.
  • Spread Christmas cheer and holiday spirit in our communities.

Ways to Participate

Normally St. Barnabas invites volunteers to support the PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS® program by donating money or time by visiting residents at our living assistance communities. However, due to COVID-19, our communities have strict no-visitor guidelines in place, so we encourage donations if you are able to do so. All donation amounts are welcome, but just a $30 donation will sponsor a gift for a resident at one of our campuses. Your donation will ensure no patient will be forgotten during the holiday season.
