Saturday, August 6, 2022 was a great day for the Free Care 5K Run/Walk Presented by Paracca Interiors Flooring America. Thank you to our sponsors, participants and volunteers. Congratulations to all finishers!
Top honors go to first place finisher Lance Nicholls, of Pittsburgh, crossing the finish line with a time of 15:41.
Overall female winner is Michelle Murray, of Greenlawn, NY with a time of 17:49.

General Information
Competitive and amateur runners, joggers, walkers, teams, stroller pushers and wheelchair racers of all ages. No inline skates or pets. No smoking.

Online registration is now closed. Race day registration is $30 and begins at 7am at St. Barnabas Medical Center Drive, 5830 Meridian Road, Gibsonia.

Race Day Parking
Meridian Road closes at 8:30 a.m. Parking: 2 Ballfields, St. Barnabas Nursing Home and Richland VFD. If you are parked in one of our lots along the course, the road will be closed and you will not be able to leave until the 5K has ended. Parking is also available at Eden Hall Elementary School and Richland Elementary School off Bakerstown Road (Red Belt). Those parking lots will not be impacted by road closures. View map here.
Post Race Party
The party begins on the St. Barnabas Medical Center lawn immediately following the race. Food and beverages are free to all registrants. Dozens of prizes will be given away in our post-race drawing.

About the Free Care 5K
Since St. Barnabas was founded in 1900, we have aimed to provide charitable contributions to members of our community that may not have the ability to pay. We continue to do this with our annual charitable events, like the St. Barnabas FreeCare5K presented by Paracca Interiors Flooring America. For over 30 years, runners and philanthropists alike have gathered at our 5K to raise money for the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which provides more than $6 million in free care to patients in need every year.
We invite people of all ages and skill levels to join us to benefit a great cause, including competitive and amateur runners, joggers, walkers, teams, and stroller and wheelchair users. You can register both in-person and virtually for $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the race. Entry fees are non-refundable, and no inline skates, pets, or smoking are allowed.
Race Features
- The startline corral reduces congestion.
- The rolling 3.1-mile out-and-back course is USA Track & Field-certified.
- ChampionChip timing allows you to get your true running time from start to finish line.
- A post-race party is open to participants with dozens of raffle prizes and a prize for the top fundraiser.
Team Competition Rules
- There must be three to five people per team, including at least one female.
- Team entries must have a team name.
- Teams must register in advance.
Awards and Prizes
Our 5K fundraiser doesn’t end right after the race! Come to the St. Barnabas Medical Center lawn immediately following the race for our awards ceremony and post-race party. We will have free food and beverages, music, and more. We will also be giving away free shirts and runner bags and dozens of prizes in our post-race drawing.
Awards will be presented to the overall first-, second-, and third-place winners, as well as prizes for top runners in each category. These awards include:
- $250 cash prize for first-place male and female finishers
- $150 cash prize for second-place male and female finishers
- $100 cash prize for third-place male and female finishers
- First-, second-, and third-place prizes for the top overall runners in each age range, wheelchair racers, and teams
- Prizes for the fastest Master runner (40-49 years of age) and Grand Master runner (50+ years of age)

Help us set the pace in a race to provide free care.
This year the 29th annual St. Barnabas Free Care 5K presented by Paracca Interiors Flooring America will have a different format due to the ongoing pandemic. We invite everyone to go out and run or walk for a good cause. The cause remains the same, free care to those in need. Proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which affords $7 million in care to patients and residents every year. Entrants Competitive and amateur runners, joggers, walkers, teams, stroller pushers and wheelchair racers of all ages. Entry Fee- $25 per person (until August 31, 2020)
- Fees are non-refundable.
- Open event – race entrant to complete 3.1 consecutive miles on any course, to be decided upon by the participant.
- Submit your time, on your honor (one-time only). Race entries and times will be accepted through August 31st at midnight.
